American Girl

An 18-inch doll is the center of American Girl, whether it’s a Historical Character with her own books or a Truly Me doll picked by look. The brand also makes Bitty Baby and WellieWishers dolls, doll outfits, furniture, and advice books for girls.

Kids who like doll play tied to stories get the most from it, as do families who add outfits and accessories over time. On americangirl.com, a Truly Me 18-inch doll was $135 when we checked in October 2026.

For each line, check the age shown, since the store groups items from 18 months+ up to 8+, and look over any small accessory pieces. Also note the $175 free shipping minimum, and that American Girl only takes returns on items bought from American Girl.

When we checked in October 2026, Bitty Baby items were listed at 18 months+, Truly Me 18-inch dolls at 6+, and Historical Character dolls at 8+.

What is American Girl’s return policy?

90 days. When we checked in October 2026, American Girl offered an exchange, merchandise credit, or refund for purchases within that window.

A prepaid return label costs $6.95, taken from your refund, and Create Your Own dolls, dolls with ear piercing, and Final Sale items can’t be returned.

Does American Girl offer free shipping?

Yes, free standard shipping on orders of $175 or more, applied automatically in the bag, according to American Girl.

Gift cards, shipping charges, Doll Hair Salon, and Doll Hospital services don’t count toward the minimum.

Can I return an American Girl doll bought somewhere else?

No. American Girl’s returns page says it only accepts returns of products bought directly from American Girl, by mail or at an American Girl store.

Purchases from the American Girl Outlet are final.
