Our verdict

Defender Version 01 is the wave that started Blokees' line of 2.17-inch snap-fit Transformers. Blokees' US store sells it only as a whole set of 12 boxes for $35.88; it does not list single boxes. The lineup is eight robots and four vehicles, among them Optimus Prime, Megatron, Prowl, Thundercracker and Scavenger. Each box holds one random kit, its instructions and a collector card.

Blokees gives the odds per box: 1 in 12 for most kits, 1 in 24 for regular Optimus Prime and Megatron, 5 in 144 for their Special Galaxy versions, and 1 in 144 for the Special Armor Optimus Prime Firepower and Megatron Fully Armed. One owner says a set box had no repeats; another got two Optimus Primes in different finishes. Blokees' copy promises a chase in every set, while its note says a set has a chance at two.

On Blokees' store, 25 owner reviews average 4.9 of 5, with praise for the detail and the ball joints, and wishes for extra hands and more varied blasters. It also holds the Scavenger vehicle needed for Devastator. It suits G1 fans 8 and up starting the line; skip it if you need a particular chase figure, since every box is random.
