Our verdict

Shining Version 05 Eternal Rivalry is the newest Shining wave, with six light-up kits at $12.99 a box: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Hot Rod, Perceptor, Kup and a Quintesson. Blokees lists Optimus at 5 in 36, the others at 1 in 6, and a special edition Optimus chase at 1 in 36. Blokees describes an upgraded light module that lights the eyes and chest together when shaken, 24 joints and 25 to 53 pieces per kit. No stand is listed.

We found only 3 owner reviews on Blokees' store, all five stars. One owner bought it for a nephew, and another liked getting Kup, Hot Rod and Perceptor. That is too few to say much about quality, so we lean on Blokees' specifications here.

It suits fans of the 1986 movie cast who want the glow feature, and the Quintesson is unusual in this format. Single boxes are random. This wave's page does not say whether the $77.90 whole set of six avoids repeats, so check with Blokees before you rely on it.
