Our verdict

Discovering STEM Mechanics: Gears & Worm Drives is an Engino kit with 151 parts that build 12 models, one at a time. Engino lists it at $42.99 for ages 9+. A learning booklet covers gear ratios, bevel and crown gears, rack and pinion, and worm drives, with experiments and quizzes.

We found no owner reviews we could read on Engino’s US store. One point to note from Engino’s page: printed instructions cover one model, and the other builds use Engino’s online 3D viewer, so you need a tablet or computer nearby.

It suits kids who like to test how things move and enjoy reading short explanations. Skip it if they want a model to keep on display, or would rather not follow instructions on a screen.
