Our verdict

The Play Gym is Lovevery's activity mat for the first year: a padded mat with five developmental zones, a wooden arch, five detachable toys (a high-contrast ball, batting ring, organic cotton teether, teething ring and sound squares), three card sets, a play guide, and a double-sided cover that turns into a fort for toddlers. Lovevery sells it for $150 and designs it for 0 to 12 months.

The page shows 2,695 reviews averaging 5. A grandparent wrote that a 9-week-old was slowly discovering the accessories, and another parent credits it with months of use. Not every owner agreed: one said their baby did not enjoy it, and a French-language review criticized how the arch legs attach to the mat and the design of the fort cover.

It suits parents who want one mat that changes through the first year. Skip it if floor space is tight, or if $150 is more than you want to spend on a play mat.
