Our verdict

Snap Circuits Classic (SC-300) is Elenco’s larger electronics kit for ages 8 and up, sold on Elenco’s store for $98.99. It has more than 60 snap-together parts and manuals for projects 1 to 305, which include all the Snap Circuits Jr. projects plus 200 more, such as an AM radio, a burglar alarm and a doorbell. It needs four AA batteries, sold separately.

Target shows 5.0 from 7 ratings; three of the five written reviews there were collected in a promotion. Parents say it is easy to build with and take apart, and that adults enjoy building alongside kids. One reminds buyers to watch small parts around younger siblings and pets.

It suits a 9- to 12-year-old who liked a smaller kit, or a curious 8-year-old who will stick with it. Skip it if your child already owns the SC-300 projects in another set.
