Our verdict

The Technic Bugatti Bolide is a 905-piece model of Bugatti’s track car for ages 9 and up. LEGO lists a working W16 engine, steering, and opening scissor doors. The finished car is about 12 inches long, and the set launched at $49.99.

Owners on Brickset like the price per piece and the moving pistons, and one reports about four hours of building. The same complaints come up in several reviews: the black-and-yellow color scheme hides the car’s shape, the engine is mostly covered once built, much of the detail comes from stickers, and there isn’t much to do with it after the build.

LEGO now lists the set as retired. It showed as sold out on LEGO’s US store from late July 2026, and Brickset gives an exit date of July 31, 2026, so look for leftover stock at other stores. It suits a child who likes cars and wants a first Technic build with moving parts, if you can find it near its original price.

What we like and what to keep in mind

What we like

  • Working W16 engine with moving pistons, steering, and scissor doors
  • Owners call the price per piece good for Technic
  • A build of a few hours, by owner accounts

Keep in mind

  • Retired by LEGO in 2026, so stock depends on other stores
  • A large sticker sheet covers much of the detail
  • Owners say the dark colors hide the shape and the engine is mostly covered
  • Lots of small parts, and early build mistakes can carry through

Good value for 900-plus pieces and a satisfying engine with moving pistons, after about four hours of building. The owner warns there are many small parts, the interior detail relies on stickers, and early mistakes carry through.

Liked the engine and the new panel pieces, but felt the black color hides the car’s shape, and noted gaps around the doors and no way to see the engine once it’s built.

Mixed
Praised the price per piece and how sturdy it feels to handle, but found the engine mostly hidden, the steering basic, and the play value limited.
