What we like and what to keep in mind
What we like
- Head swivels on its own as you roll BB-8 along
- Body and head details are printed, with no sticker sheet
- Hatch opens to show the burner arm from The Force Awakens
Keep in mind
- Jay's Brick Blog found it small for the price at about 7.5 in. tall
- The burner arm and tool arms are pulled out by hand
- One reviewer found the curved body panels clunky up close

Paraphrased from public owner reviews. Each one links to where it was posted.
A Brickset member who also owns the R2-D2 and C-3PO sets was surprised how round BB-8 turned out, given the cube-shaped core, and liked the printed parts and the rolling head. They felt the price does not match the much smaller piece count.
This reviewer felt the model is held back by its small scale, with a body that looks clunky instead of spherical. They liked the head-turning feature and some of the build techniques but called the price hard to justify for the size.
This reviewer enjoyed building the inner core and thinks the new BB-8 looks great, with a neater lower body than the older large version. They found the extendable arms a little awkward to retrieve.
