Best for and who should skip it
Best for
- Adults who want a desk display they can reshape after the build
- Bonsai fans who want a version that needs no watering
- A first LEGO set for adults, given the short build members report
Skip it if
- You want a long build; one member finished the basics in about 45 minutes
- You dislike the pink frog pieces used for the blossoms
- The pot will be moved often, since the soil pieces are loose
What we like and what to keep in mind
What we like
- Two foliage looks, green leaves or pink blossoms, that swap on axle connections
- Branches and leaf clusters rotate, so each display can differ
- Members like the trunk build, with sideways building and mixed brown shades
Keep in mind
- 200 of the 878 pieces are loose 1x1 round pieces poured in as soil
- Only one foliage set is on the tree at a time; the other is left over
- Brickset's reviewer says the pink frog blossoms look like frogs up close
How we reviewed it
What owners say.
- 1 positive
- 2 mixed
Paraphrased from public owner reviews. Each one links to where it was posted.
This reviewer, on their first set for adults, found the trunk complex and the foliage open to creative shaping. They call the piece count misleading: 200 loose round pieces act as pebbles and one foliage set goes unused, so the tree itself builds quickly.
A Brickset member expected 1.5 to 2 hours but finished the basic build in about 45 minutes. They found the pot and stand repetitive, enjoyed arranging the foliage, and say the pink frog blossoms work well once you step back.
Brickset's reviewer says it looks like a real tree from a distance and welcomes LEGO trying something new, but notes it has no play value and would have preferred pink flower heads to frogs.
