What we like and what to keep in mind
What we like
- Cannons hide under a lift-off grate, with 4 gunport doors
- Rudder module slides out to reveal a treasure chest
- 4 pirate figures with torso prints unique to this set
Keep in mind
- No printed flag; the sails and skull emblem are brick-built
- Only one of the 3 models can be built at a time
- The box notes the models do not float
How we reviewed it
What owners say.
- 1 positive
- 2 mixed
Paraphrased from public owner reviews. Each one links to where it was posted.
Brickset's reviewer sees an attractive, good-value small pirate ship with 4 distinctive pirate figures, 3 interesting builds and plenty of play options, and liked the alternate builds enough to suggest buying 2 copies.
This reviewer's main complaint is the missing pirate flag. The fore topsail carries a brick-built skull and crossbones instead, and they say a printed flag would have suited both the ship and the castle build.
The Brick Fan's reviewer finds the captain's cabin plain, with just a chair and desk, but likes the cannons hidden under the deck grate and the treasure module in the rudder. They add that fewer parts than the 2020 ship make the per-piece cost slightly higher.
