Our verdict

This Created by Me! kit has three resin pieces to decorate: a flower treasure box, a heart treasure box and a butterfly bank. It comes with six paint pots, three brushes, two glitter glues, white glue, 20 gem stickers and 56 foil stickers. Melissa & Doug labels it for ages 8 and up and lists it at $26.99.

Owner reviews are mostly positive on Target, where it averages 4.62 from 31 ratings. Grandparents say kids end up with sturdy keepsakes and plenty of supplies. The complaints we read are about dried or clumpy paint and pieces that are smaller than expected.

It suits an 8- to 10-year-old who likes painting and making things to keep. Skip it if you want large pieces or a kit with paint that will last for many more projects.
