Every Optimus Prime fan has their Optimus. Maybe it is the rounded, glowing-eyed hero from the Transformers: Prime cartoon. Maybe it is the flame-painted truck that roared through the 2007 movie, or the young Orion Pax from Transformers One. First, one thing these kits do not do

None of the robot kits here turns into a truck. They are snap-fit display models: you build Optimus, pose him, and he stays a robot. Action Edition 04's "two forms" are two sets of robot armor, Orion Pax and Optimus, not a vehicle mode. If a kid on your list wants to flip a robot into a semi, these are the wrong box. If you want the truck itself, jump to Wheels CT01.

Action Edition 06: the Prime cartoon hero, Star Saber and all

If you watched Transformers: Prime, this is the one that looks like the show. The curved red shoulders, the swap-in chest windows and the long Star Saber are all there, and a magnet lights up the chest and eyes when you click it into place.

At 328 pieces it is a proper weekend project, not a quick snap-together. That is part of the appeal. You end up with a figure that holds a sword pose on your shelf and looks like a screenshot.

DX Jet Wing: the most weapons for the money

Remember the Dark of the Moon finale, when Optimus bolts on the jet pack and goes full arsenal? This kit is that moment. You get the wing pack plus seven weapons: twin swords, a shield, an axe, gun pods, barrage cannons and the ion blaster.

It sits between the $19.99 Classic kits and the $39.99 Action Editions, and it is the easiest way to get a loaded, dramatic display without the big-box price. Leave room on the shelf. With the wings spread, it is much wider than it is tall.

What owners say: We read 38 owner reviews; 31 give five stars and 4 give three or fewer. Owners like the sheer number of weapons and say it stands steady even with the wings on. The complaints are about fragile joints, with several reports of snapped knees, legs or swords.

Classic Class 11: Transformers One in an evening

This is the easy yes for a Transformers One fan. It is the movie's final Optimus, about 5 inches tall, with a glowing blue energon axe and light-up eyes and chest. Two display stands come in the box, which is generous at this price.

With 79 pieces, it is the smallest robot build in this guide. Owners describe it as an easy build and a good one to do with kids, which also makes it a smart first Blokees kit.

What owners say: We read 19 owner reviews; 14 give five stars and the rest give four. Owners call it movie-accurate and easy to build. One notes the head only swivels side to side and cannot look up or down, and another finds him a little skinny.

Action Edition 04: Orion Pax and Optimus in one box

Transformers One is a story about Orion Pax becoming Optimus, and this kit lets you tell it on your shelf. Two full sets of outer armor swap the figure between Orion Pax and Optimus Prime with the Matrix. Three face sculpts and magnetic lights in the eyes, ears and Matrix finish it off.

It is one figure with two looks, not two figures. If you love swapping parts and re-posing, that is the fun. If you want to build once and leave it alone, the Classic Class 11 above gives you the same character for half the price.

What owners say: We read 12 owner reviews; 11 give five stars. Owners say it is far bigger and more involved than the Classic Class version. One parent says the build took their son almost eight hours, and one owner had parts that would not fit on two copies.

Classic Class 09: the 2007 movie Optimus

For a lot of fans, the 2007 film is the Optimus. This kit captures that busy, mechanical movie look in 88 pieces, with lights in the eyes and chest, a flame sword and a blaster.

It costs the same $19.99 as Classic Class 11, so the choice between them is pure taste. Put the two designs next to each other and pick the one you recognize instantly.

What owners say: Owner reviews on Blokees' store are positive. Owners mention pre-printed armor, a build that does not take long and good posing range, and several call the lights a nice surprise at the price. Every review we found was on the maker's own store.

Skip it if: a child under 12 would build it alone. Blokees advises adult supervision, and the lights use batteries.

Champion Class 26: the Bumblebee movie look

The 2018 Bumblebee movie brought back a more classic, blocky Optimus, and this kit is built around it. An inner frame carries 20 movable joints, the eyes light up, and you get a blaster, two sets of hands and an upgraded stand.

Do not read "Champion Class" as an upgrade over Classic Class. It is simply the name Blokees now uses for this size line. Choose it for the design.

Action Edition 07 Ver.EVO: open armor and a tiny Spike

This is the kit for people who like to see the machinery. Armor panels open to show the inner frame, and lights glow in the eyes, chest and backpack. A cannon rifle, an Energon Axe and a small Spike Witwicky in his exo-suit come in the box.

At 364 pieces it is the biggest build here, and Tformers reports it stands about 7.9 inches tall, which makes it the tallest robot in this guide. The design is a slightly stylized G1 Prime rather than a cartoon-exact one.

What owners say: There are only six short owner reviews so far, all five stars and all a line long, so nobody has described the build yet. The US listing showed out of stock on October 13, 2026.

Wheels CT01: when you actually want the truck

Sometimes the truck is the point. CT01 is Optimus in his classic semi form with the trailer, at 1:64 scale, the size of a die-cast car. The trailer opens into a repair-bay play deck with Roller, and you can swap on silver smokestacks.

At $12.99 and labeled 9+, it is also the cheapest and youngest-friendly kit on this page. It never becomes a robot, so it pairs well with one of the robot kits above rather than replacing one.

Classic Class 11 or Action Edition 04?

Same movie, same hero. Classic Class 11 is $19.99, 79 pieces and done in an evening. AE04 is $39.99, 272 pieces and two armor sets. Ask yourself honestly: will you ever swap the armor? If not, save the $20.

Ver.EVO or AE06?

Both cost $39.99. Ver.EVO is for people who love opening panels and seeing the frame. AE06 is for people who love the Prime cartoon. Ver.EVO was not orderable when we checked, so AE06 is also the one you can actually get today.

A quick way to choose for a gift

Ask two questions. Which Transformers movie or show do they talk about? Do they enjoy building, or would they rather pose a finished figure? A fan of the 2007 film who builds a lot will be happier with Classic Class 09 than with a fancier kit of a version they never watched. Then check the age label on the exact kit: most here say 14+, the Classic Class 09 and 11 say 12+, and Wheels CT01 says 9+.
